Economic violence in a couple constitutes discrimination.
The Constitutional Court protected the fundamental rights of a woman who suffered physical and psychological abuse during her marriage. She depended economically on her husband who, taking advantage of his position, caused damage to his life, personal integrity and psychological pressures. The Court warned that although this type of violence is often difficult to prove, it is still a practice by which men can attack their wives. In this way, judges have the duty to study these cases based on gender criteria and absent stereotypes, to ensure the protection of the rights of this population group.
